Pipe Heat Tape prevents your pipes from freezing. The great thing about using heat tape is that it it very easy to install so it can be done by anyone. If you already have heat tape on your pipes, then its important to check them over time since they are susceptible to wear and tear.

Where do I install Pipe Heat Tape?

Make sure you install the tape on all of your external water pipes first. These will be the first to freeze so should get the first attention. After this has been completed, you should then locate the water pipes which run along the inside of the walls as these are the most likely to be affected when the temperature drops outside.

The type of heat tape you will need, will depend on the pipe you want to insulate. When planning your heat tape insulation you need to measure the length of the pipe and its diameter. After you do this, you will need to locate the valves that appear along the length of the pipe.

• Be careful when install heat take on plastic pipes. Not all heat tape is suitable on plastic pipes.
